But I agree: some of those models on the market lately are there just to get the manufacturer's emission numbers down. There is no good reason to buy a hybrid now when the price premium for an EV is almost irrelevant.

Yes it's crowded, but cities don't remain static. In 2021 the population in the CBD was just shy of 55,000 then. It might easily be another 10%-20% now. If we can create a viable bypass of the central Hoddle grid to the west, then I'd consider that a good thing.
Traffic can be something horrible for the residents in West Melbourne too.
That's actually a nice handy link to Docklands and south of the Yarra. It will take a lot of traffic from the west away from Spencer Street/ Dudley Street etc.

Won't be a direct service (stops planned at Sunshine & a new station at Keilor East) but expect both the cost & time-factor to come in somewhere between the Skybus and the current 901 Bus/ Broadmeadows Station solution.
The good news is that MEL may actually get its own railway station in the next few years - even if it is more than 5 decades overdue. ๐
