Since I started as Features Editor at ASPB, I have mentored over 500 early-career plant scientists! (Conviron Scholars, Plantae Fellows, and Assistant Features Editors).
I'm so happy to have had this opportunity and to watch the plant community thrive.

Moss (Physcomitrium patens) protoplasts (wallless cells) transformed with chloroplast envelope protein tagged with mGFP (green). The chlorophyll autofluorescence is in magenta.
The protrusions of the chloroplast envelope are called stromules.

An unconventional Rubisco small subunit underpins the CO2-concentrating organelle in land plants In many algae, photosynthesis is boosted by biophysical CO2-concentrating mechanisms, which pack the CO2-fixing enzyme Rubisco into liquid-like organelles called pyrenoids. Engineering C3 crops with a...

Our work on #hornwort #pyrenoids is finally out in @science.org! πŸŽ‰ We uncovered how hornworts pack their Rubisco into pyrenoids and successfully recreated them in Arabidopsis. A key step toward engineering more efficient photosynthesis in crops @btiscience.bsky.social www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Successfully inserted anime in my plant bio lecture! πŸ’… Throwback to the good old time that I transcribed subtitles for many anime for two years at the end of my undergrad, now I'm telling a room of undergrads the plants and anime that I love. I love my job! #ib103 #anime #plantjoy

And I absolutely love this terrarium, a surprise find from a local plant shop! Glass blown then pressed on wood while it’s still hot, so two of them fit perfectly

If it’s the case of what I imagined, it should be kinda heritable even though with redundancy from other pathways. But if it’s something environmental, then it will be a chance of luck… πŸ₯²πŸ˜³

1 month ago 2 0 1 0

Ah i see! In many case, yes, but meristem size is also regulated by multiple pathways to triple insure the size and domains are right, so it could be something in the not that important pathway that can enlarge it a little bit but still can't go crazy because other things are still intact.

1 month ago 3 0 3 0

Then we can also imagine the meristem will get bigger and bigger too with time πŸ‘€ it will be cool if it happens since it’s slow and subtle unlike may other meristem mutants
