Iβm excited to share that one week ago our review has been published on in Current Opinion in Plant Biology π
Grateful to my co-authors and collaborators!

The two nectar guides are so chubby and cute haha
A wild parisian Cymbalaria growing in the crack of a windowsill near the lab. Such quiet beauty. @minyaaa.bsky.social kinda monkeyflower in shape :)
Since I started as Features Editor at ASPB, I have mentored over 500 early-career plant scientists! (Conviron Scholars, Plantae Fellows, and Assistant Features Editors).
I'm so happy to have had this opportunity and to watch the plant community thrive.
You're all in my little green heart π
BREAKING: NEB Luna Universal One-Step RT-qPCR Kit that does qPCR directly from RNA works very well! #newPI #qPCR
How exciting congrats all!!!!!!
I am SO THRILLED to share our first fully-lab lab paper!!!!!! Led by @hybridzones.bsky.social & @hagarsoliman.bsky.social, w/ a major assist from @pfschwarz.bsky.social!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read more below, if you're curious (you should be- it's AWESOME!!!!!!!)

Photo of four lichens growing flat on grey rock. A yellow lichen is growing in a diagonal line across the photo. A dark grey oval lichen is growing along the yellow line as is a larger, round, off white lichen. A small amount of brown lichen is at the right side end of the line of yellow lichen.
Crustose lichen mix: Candelariella (yellow), Rhizocarpon (dark grey) Dimelaena (off white) and Acarospora (brown). Photo covers about 6cm, left to right. NWT, Canada. #lichen #fungi #fungifriends

Wow the number variation is intense
Fluorescence microscopy image of a spherical cluster of chloroplasts, showing magenta-stained interiors surrounded by bright green outlines against a black background.
Moss (Physcomitrium patens) protoplasts (wallless cells) transformed with chloroplast envelope protein tagged with mGFP (green). The chlorophyll autofluorescence is in magenta.
The protrusions of the chloroplast envelope are called stromules.

"It is period of cellular rebellion. Arabidopsis root cells have won first victory against the dark forces of DNA damage"
Thanks to @dvonwangenheim.bsky.social and new i3 spinning disk @the.3i.social
hahaha I made sure of that!
hehehe thank you :D
Our work on #hornwort #pyrenoids is finally out in @science.org! π We uncovered how hornworts pack their Rubisco into pyrenoids and successfully recreated them in Arabidopsis. A key step toward engineering more efficient photosynthesis in crops @btiscience.bsky.social www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Omg so excited to see this out!!!!!!!!!
a slide introducing GA, when the researchers found the GA mutant, they called them "foolish seedling". Then on the right corner I inserted Kagura from Gintama saying "γεγγ馬鹿γ§γγβ
Successfully inserted anime in my plant bio lecture! π Throwback to the good old time that I transcribed subtitles for many anime for two years at the end of my undergrad, now I'm telling a room of undergrads the plants and anime that I love. I love my job! #ib103 #anime #plantjoy
I know I was amazed by the creativity!
My hand holding the glass showing the bottom is irregular and fits the wood below, which also has burnt marks on
And I absolutely love this terrarium, a surprise find from a local plant shop! Glass blown then pressed on wood while itβs still hot, so two of them fit perfectly
A glass terrarium setting on a piece of wood and inside the glass there are two diff selaginella species, one very red one very green
Top view of the terrarium
Perks of teaching intro plant biology, my office now is packed with a variety of plants! Please appreciate my Selaginella terrarium muhahahaha #ib103 #plantjoy #iamabotanist
Haha it was accurately named then! Whenever I tried out a new plant id app, I always use pics of zz and Zamia to get a baseline evaluation of the app. Itβs not an easy test

If itβs the case of what I imagined, it should be kinda heritable even though with redundancy from other pathways. But if itβs something environmental, then it will be a chance of luckβ¦ π₯²π³
Ah i see! In many case, yes, but meristem size is also regulated by multiple pathways to triple insure the size and domains are right, so it could be something in the not that important pathway that can enlarge it a little bit but still can't go crazy because other things are still intact.
Then we can also imagine the meristem will get bigger and bigger too with time π it will be cool if it happens since itβs slow and subtle unlike may other meristem mutants
