New Publication Alert:
We are back with one more publication in our Fusarium pathobiome series, in #Frontiers_in_Microbiology.
We demonstrate the genetic potential and the growth effect of a stable core microbiome of Fusarium wilt.
Thanks to all the collaborators.

Congrats Carolyn Young!

My first #APS #PlantHealth meeting was in 2022, and since then I've had the tradition of taking a selfie with Carolyn Young. This year it was more special with Carolyn' APS fellow award. Congrats!!!

Out of curiosity, how does it compare to Mendeley?

8 months ago 0 0 1 0

What did we find:
- Microbial dysbiosis often precedes disease symptoms
- Certain beneficial bacteria decline before the pathogen becomes dominant
- More importantly, the pathobionts in the hyphosphere can be distinguished as a potentially distinct pathobiome within the dysbiosis community

What we did: We examined the microbial communities in banana plant endosphere and soils, and compared it to the microbiota directly associated with the #Fusarium pathogen's #hyphosphere.

I wonder whether we should give up emails and go back to paper, pen, and snail mail. We are in a Jevons Paradox situation with emails.

I was warned, but I never took it seriously. Most of my time is spent deleting emails.

"One of these days I will make a #phylogenomic tree of all trees used as #Christmas trees, and make a 3D model of it with each branch from the wood of those trees" - my thought every year in Nov/Dec for the past 15 years. Maybe someone has already done this. Have they?

Push–Pull Intercropping Increases the Antiherbivore Benzoxazinoid Glycoside Content in Maize Leaf Tissue Push–pull technology refers to a promising mixed cropping practice for sustainable agricultural intensification, which uses properties of intercrop and border crop species to defend a focal crop again...

New paper from our group! We found that maize plants from push-push fields had a higher relative abundance of metabolites toxic to insect herbivores. This suggests that maize plants growing with companion plants are "stronger" than maize plants growing alone.
