I think structure would help end the semester well. For SME#4 we could focus completely on the visual, then maybe have another assignment where we add in the audio. I think structure and more feedback along the way would help the most.

I think the option that would be best is changing SME#4 to be centered on editing our visual. During out meeting we focused a lot on the visual part, and it makes me want to redo all of the editing and film new clips.

I am feeling a bit stressed about the current workload. After meeting with you yesterday I realized that I basically need to re-do my whole visual project, and change my audio track a lot. I think for me who is not good with editing it will take a ton of time.

For the next project I definitely want to try being less in control, and letting the audio and visuals work together without me controlling everything. I want to go in without a set idea and see what I unexpectedly find. #hwa7 #listening

Honestly nothing in my project right now is surprising me or saying something unexpected. I came up with an idea in my mind of what I wanted to film and convey before I went and got any footage. I need to start piecing things together and let them work on their own. #hwa7 #listening

I think the third voice is found within the viewer. It is the interaction between the audio and the visual, and how the viewer interprets this interaction. This isn't what Patty is thinking or some jester, it is the viewer's thoughts and interpretations. #hwa7 #thirdvoice

Patty's response to real life really surprised with her phone going off in the play story. It's interesting to me that for actors their real life has to be "noticed." It almost confuses me. Like they can't see their life unless something grabs their attention. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty

I am so surprised that Patty only spent about $100-$200 on items. That's insane to me because it seems like you would need way more to put what she put together. But it really shows her point that her motivation to do it was what made it great. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty

I was not too familiar with soap operas before watching Painted Dreams. I am so surprised though that these shows were on 5 days a week all year long. I'm kind of jealous cause I hate having to wait a whole week for a new episode of a show to be released. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty

the end of season 2 shows the blending that Patty is talking about. the husband that died has come back, and the main character acts like it was a dream. at the same time pebbles are being dumped in water and the visuals are blending. this shows how dreams can make what's real blend. #painteddreams

this whole set up that Patty has shown a couple times stands out to me. the subject is soap operas, but the images being shown are of a man cave sign and beer, both considered masculine. the visual doesn't match the audio here. #painteddreams

this quote really stood out to me. Patty is discussing how the family can be the enemy, and this section is called the nuclear family. Is Patty discussing this in relation to soap operas? This seems more personal. #painteddreams

Okay now the baby is in a popcorn bucket and getting sprayed with febreze. Patty is talking about the husband being off at war but I can't even focus on the audio cause I'm laughing at the visuals. #painteddreams

This clip made me laugh. Why is Patty hitting the baby doll in the face with the baby wipes? It's so funny to me. The clip definitely does not match the tone of Patty's voice. #painteddreams

Okay I just started season 2. At first I was so confused my the emoji balloons. But I get it now. Patty is focusing on the importance of facial expressions in soap operas. The emojis are facial expressions that she blends into the actors' faces. #painteddreams

"as she carries the burden of dreams" this quote really resonated with me. Sometimes dreams really feel like a burden to have as you try to reach them. Without dreams would life become easier or pointless? #painteddreams

Patty discusses how growing up as a boy you have to do "boy things." Then static is quickly shown on the screen and the clips change. Patty is shown playing with a doll house. The static here separates the two clips to make her point. #painteddreams

Patty is discussing how soap operas have beginnings and middles but no endings. And in these clips the fidget spinners just keep spinning without stopping. I think Patty uses these clips to show that soap operas have no ending. The clips are matching the audio. #painteddreams

This clip went on for so long. The pacing felt so slow. I wonder why Patty wanted us to focus on this scene. But also side note, why are they using baby wipes instead of tissues to wipe their eyes?? That's so random to me. #painteddreams

Patty starts with one image and then blends another image into it. It makes me feel confused. Like I don't know what I am supposed to be focusing on. #painteddreams

"blend together" ... the images being shown of different people around 1 minute into season 1 are blending for me. I can barely see them before they disappear from the screen. I think Patty does this because of the discussion of topics blending together, just like the images. #painteddreams

the logic becomes less clear to me at the end of the video. the beginning clips make a lot of sense with you trying to fix mistakes but not being able to. at the end, you put clips of driving and bees on an apple but i don't see the meaning in them to the rest. #sme3review
