Good mentoring is any supervisor's job and moral obligation. But good mentoring will also make your research better, egoistically speaking. So there's really no reason not to put emphasis on this.

Why I study immune responses to vaccination:

"Pediatric vaccines have saved the lives of 154 million children since 1974. Independently, COVID-19 (COVID) vaccines saved an estimated 20 million lives in 2021 alone. The efficacy of almost all human vaccines is dependent on immunological memory."

A Cancer Treatment That Does More Than Scientists Thought CAR-T cell therapy, originally developed for cancer, is showing ever more promise as a treatment for autoimmune diseases.

A patient with three rare autoimmune diseases in Germany has been symptom-free for over a year after a single dose of CAR T cell therapy. Avery Posey, PhD addresses risks + new developments for adapting the #immunotherapy as a treatment for autoimmune diseases in The Atlantic: https://bit.ly/4dG3nIY

Does anyone have serum/plasma from a cohort of (ambulatory) patients with herpes zoster (shingles) ? A small cohort would be fine. We will test if they have auto-Abs against type I IFNs, as the risk of zoster increases over 50 yo. Please RT or contact me !

Acute and chronic infections drive distinct trajectories in human memory CD4+ T cell formation Different clinical courses of HCV infection shape CD4+ T cell immunity. Reinscheid et al. show that a stem-like subset of CD4+ T cells arising during chronic infection is maintained after successful a...

"our findings delineate antigen-specific CD4+ T cell fates in different courses of human viral infections, identifying stem-like subsets as potential immunotherapeutic targets and highlighting the need for tailored strategies to re-direct or boost CD4+ T cell responses." #Immunology 🧪🩺

what sequencing-based strategy do people like to look at CRISPR/cas9 editing in a polyclonal cell population? in the past i have used Sanger+the TIDE algorithm. I know some labs amplify the target region and do NGS- if that option, what company would you use? any other options?

It cost us > 100 € for six targets and took several weeks. I'm very happy with Novogene for more extensive sequencing projects, but to check CRISPR edits, the other options posted here sound much more effective.

We used Novogene for NGS, did the amplicons ourselves. For some targets TIDE doesnt work although there is a clear KO in NGS and in functional readouts. Dont know why.

Fantastic talk, @j-eyquem.bsky.social - and congrats on the new paper! 1 question: When you do the Nalm6 challenge with your in-vivo CARs (slide at 51m40s), you have a sharp and synchronized drop in BLI at about 13 days after the vector transfer. Does it take that long until the cells are fighting?
