The only song from the 2020s to make my cut for #1C000LEST. Everyone uses adjectives like "massive," "momentous" & "monumental" to describe this duet. Because it is! But there's a real intimacy to it too.

The *effective* split vote is when you can still muster 50% plus for your top one, two or three songs combined.
The Beatles and Stevie Wonder in #1C000LEST were the best examples of a one. In a regular challenge it was obviously harder, but Stevie's top two did it.
Well, strictly speaking it does... but I hardly expect to receive 21 accurate applications overnight! Only #1C000LEST had that many and they took well over two weeks.
In any case, my intention was to give it 12 hours before checking, and possibly even to prioritise emails from familiar names.

The Top 100 begins at 47 points, so this is a big miss for an act who were 2nd highest total scorers in FOM and had two singles in the #1C000LEST Top 50.
I think the clincher here is that PE - who did so well In #1C000LEST - are also far from guaranteed a spot. Kendrick might be the only rapper to scrape in.
And you can say all you like about split vote, but certain 70s icons (not just him) will easily end up with three or four.

I don't really listen to MSP myself any more, but a lot of these picks are very firmly embedded as my all-time favourites.
I've always found it better to go with instinct than try too hard. Even more so here as I didn't have any prep time due to running #1C000LEST.
I’m entertained by how much all the #1C000LEST results would have boiled their piss.
It’s mildly odd though, as the NME was certainly championing black music to at least the mid 80s. Maybe the readership was always largely inclined to white boys with guitars though.

Having said that, I was much more focused on the #1c000lest options back in March so completely forgot about the specific exceptions (and the VFs generally) by the time it came to choosing these!
