I came up with a story for my #drpg made for #7drl but didn't get it in on time. Now that it's in I'm done with this project. There's plenty of other stuff I would like to add but this was meant as a proof-of-concept and I have one more in mind before I get to my next big game. #gamedev #indiedev
Polishing up my #blobber from #7drl for #screenshotsaturday
Added a proper options window, settings are now saved to disk, and I found some spaces to use more of the public domain art I earmarked for the project.

Posted a postmortem for the #7drl game I made a few weeks ago. Took longer to finish writing the blog post than I thought it would.
Uploaded a Linux build for the original Mechanomaly 7DRL version. I can't test it myself, so every feedback is welcome !

I haven't worked on a new game since I did my last #7DRL in 2019.
It feels so good to start fresh and do things *right* from the beginning, instead of trying to jam new stuff into a bloated house-of-cards-in-a-hurricane structure (I'm looking at you, Approaching Infinity).

Played some more #7DRL games!

A yellow PlayDate handheld console displaying a traditional ASCII roguelike.
So, I guess I accidentally started making another #7DRL.

Path of Rogue seemed a simple #PathOfExile knockoff using the tried-and-true 3x3 #Rogue level generation, but with a complex skill graph (it's not a tree) (I don't know the original).

Cyberdancer was a fun little game where you switch between two worlds at certain points in the dungeon, revealing the alternate abilities of your items.

We get another entry in the proud tradition of chess roguelikes with the flashy Archesspelago. I got stuck on the first try with an off-colour bishop; complexity escalates quickly.

An excellent amalgamation of #chess mechanics and #roguelike mechanics.

Recently submitted my game for the #7drl game jam 2026!
It's a nonogram/picross roguelike! You can collect items for helpful abilities and effects!

I accidentally just deleted my #7DRL game release post...
For the record, here is a link to my 1D cellular automata roguelike game "Rule 255"

Thanks again to everyone who checked it out!
Wrote up some dev notes for the post-jam updates I've been making to Loose Ties. Spent two days falling down the "parity" rabbit hole of roguelikes and I don't think I've hit the bottom yet.

Wyverning Heights caught my eye because I thought it was hand-drawn; it is explicitly AI-generated as an experiment. It plays as 3D Snake with a ranged attack. There is a useful path display feature, but you can't tilt the view very far.
Intriguing, but not quite meaty enough […]
Want to play a old school roguelike where you can have a pirate crew made up of monkeys, ghosts, crabs, skeletons, fish, parrots, crocodiles, and boring humans?
I'm hoping to make some more additions to Captain Yendor's Lost Treasure soon.

Lexicon seemed cool, but was too obscure for me; I didn't really understand what was going on. The screen also felt cramped, but I liked the observation mechanic. Would definitely like this one ironed out.

I couldn't help but compare Ex Libris to A Long Day in Hell (see upthread). I liked the concept, but the room generation wasn't that inspiring; you couldn't talk to the other people (but you could pet cats to decrease your stress :3). As my corruption increased, the book contents got zalgofied - […]
Next was Nonogueram, which is exactly what it says on the tin. You choose a path through a random graph of difficulties, item shops and healing stops. The hard puzzles were pretty hard in the beginning, but were starting to solve themselves soon with the items.
I wish you could drag the screen. […]
Pushed a post #7DRL update for Loose Ties last night. This one focuses on opening up the endgame so there’s more expressive decisions when chasing highscores 1/x
[A Long Day in Hell, suicide]
This game is indirectly based on #Borges' "The Library of Babel", and it's cleanly done. I appreciate that it can be played with the keyboard.
I played for 3 days wanting something to happen, then I stopped sleeping - it gets dark. Morale dropped soon, and then I […]
Clockwork Depths is a first-person #steampunk #DungeonCrawler. The first floor was a tutorial, the second introduced traps, the third floor was filled with conveyors, the fourth with (unfortunately stuttery) timed vents, the fifth with those combined (in an annoyingly loopy layout), the sixth […]
First was Ping Bat, chosen for the concept, but being real-time it was pretty stressful. I survived 4 nights. The glowing graphic style and ping sounds were pretty cool.

Last week, I spent some time making a game for #7drl about hiking and trading trinkets.
It was an intense week, and I just didn't feel like spending the weekend working on it, so I didn't make it to the deadline. But I'll try to finish it (hopefully this month).
I took the time to throw my #7DRL on GitHub. It's under the MIT license, so make use of it however you wish.

Amalgamate is my entry to 7drl this year.
