This is despite the EU's non-discriminatory pricing, and transparency articles in the #AFIR, which, in practice, appears to be ineffective as the European Commission does not want to take action on this issue, nor clarify it.
The 🇪🇺 #AFIR is failing to create a user-friendly market. With additional technical requirements that have been in force since this month, 'regular' public charging points are also becoming significantly more expensive.
Encouraging to see rising focus on barriers to attractive public EV charging in 🇩🇪, particularly the widespread practice of discriminatory pricing despite 🇪🇺 #AFIR legislation.
Hopefully, this will lead to a healthy, transparent market where EV drivers find it easy and attractive to charge in public.
While the European #AFIR remains a toothless tiger, the Italian competition authority is already applying general principles that also apply elsewhere in Europe where charging point operators are geographically dominant market players.
