Small-Scale (Point) Mutations [Scrollable]
Explore how small-scale mutations (substitutions, insertions, and deletions) change protein function. #APBiology
Energy Dynamics Between Producers and Consumers [Simulation]
Explore how energy moves through ecosystems using a model system of caterpillars and Brussels sprouts. #APBiology
Our team consists of me (your tutor) I am first year med student. I have a sting gaps of AP biology and for calculus I focus on building conceptual understanding and problem solving skills. (Muscularis my budgie which is a bird ) is our concern creator model you will see muscularis in our instagram reels

New edition of my Barron's AP Biology book just arrived! (Added an appendix on biogeochemical cycles so kids will be ready for the 2026 exam!) #apbiology
Want to provide a rich opportunity for students to apply their knowledge? The game of connections is an excellent tool! These AP Biology students are busy making connections at four different stations in preparation for their AP exam! #scienceeducation #APBiology @msd-caputo.bsky.social

Good morning #bfc530 The #APBiology exam is May 5th so this week is the…
Pill bug behavior lab in #APBiology today. They do not like heat, and we also learned that they cannot swim in HCl 😟. That was an accident but RIP pillbugs. Here is a picture of some live ones… #edusky #friyay
We have AP exams in May. I look forward to my exam because I it is the culmination of a year of work. My students learn SO much in #APBiology not just biology but how to understand scientific experiments, design and data interpretation. I always also talk about how it’s us vs. college board #edusky
#APBiology evolution review, list-pass-amass, 15 minutes to use notes to generate questions by topic, 4 minute rotations, answer as many questions as you can without your notes, rotate, check previous questions and add, repeat, then at the last station add 3 more questions. #edusky
How do you do #retrieval in the classroom? #edusky #apbiology

It’s the nature of the course, I teach #APBiology in general, these kids are in the class because they are motivated and want to be there. I think it’s a good question to ask on a future survey though! I’m surveying them on Monday, so I’ll add it in #sunchat
Good morning and TGIF! Man, this week felt long! So, I did quite a bit of proselytizing about vaccines this week since we are covering viruses in #APBiology I don’t know if it made a difference but it certainly felt current. #bfc530
Happy Friday! Most of my inspiration comes from social media, the #APBiology facebook is a great community, I also follow a ton of UK educators who are full on Science of Learning and I also will be going to my 3rd ResearchED in March and that conference always inspires me #bfc530
One of my students has a botany question I can’t answer. Why can plants withstand polyploidy and animals cannot? @realhopejahren.bsky.social #apbiology #botany #science
Big Unit 5 #APBiology exam today. Overheard in my classroom, “I woke up seeing chromosome!” #edusky
A6: In #APBiology I track unit exam scores in excel, each student gets their own graph so they can see how much they’ve improved. My students learn so much about graphing, reading complex text and analyzing data that they almost always experience growth #T2Tchat
This is making me think I should reach out this week to parents with an #APBiology update. As a high school teacher I rarely have parents interested in interacting with me unless a student is struggling. I try to send updates home 2 or 3 times a quarter. #sunchat
Today in #APBiology a Key West inspired sex-linkage problem. Tomorrow is our first summative assessment on Mendelian and Non-Mendelian genetics #iteachbio
Today in #APBiology phenotype analysis in fast plants with a side of chi squared. Got very nice values in 2/3 classes. #iteachbio
#APBiology today, learning about polygenic traits. Watched HHMI’s biology of skin color. It’s a great video that pulls together
physics, multiple concepts of biology, and anthropology. Excellent resource. youtu.be/hFw8mMzH5YA?...
#bfc530 we started up last Thurs and Fri (snow day today - for 1” 🙄) I didn’t ease us in #APBiology curriculum rolls on! I did start with 10 retrieval practice questions on whiteboards, I made sure to revisit my expectations. We talked through the stuff kids were making mistakes on, very productive!
Today in #APBiology Trihybrid Crosses and Probability rules.
Draw a Punnett square or is it easier to use your probably rules?
Depends on the question…
Chances that offspring have 2 homozygous traits… might be easier to draw the Punnett square.
#iteachscience
I’d like to post more about what I’m doing with students daily in #APbiology. First day after break, lots of retrieval. Here is an image I asked these 2 questions about:
Is this a karyotype of a cell that is haploid or diploid?
Is this karyotype taken from a sperm or egg?
Answer in comments.
