.@andry_ny_aina Rakotomalala and me did a little study on the quality of #ATBC2019 talks last week!

Two findings:
1) Talk quality did not differ between academic life history stages.

2) Native English speakers did not deliver betterr talks.

China financed the International Conference Centre where #ATBC2019 is happening.

Just in the moment when @WilliamLaurance criticized China‘s belt and road initiative in his plenary we get a power cut. Coincidence?!

(Great talk btw!

The talk by Moshe Inbar will be hard to beat as the funniest talk of #atbc2019 . About how invertebrates are accidentally consumed by herbivores. Featuring panicked aphids, breathing simulator machines, blindfolded goats and snorkel-wearing lab technicians. All great science too!

The #ATBC2019 is a truly amazing opportunity for young Malagasy scientists who couldn’t attend a conference elsewhere.

I’m sure this event will positively influence #MalagasyScience & conservation in the future!
