Today's email was about how to identify your book's likely audience. Next week I'll share how to discern whether your book might benefit from a particular technique.

A photo of a person with red curly hair and glasses playing guitar on a stage lit by strings of lights and overseen by enormous skeleton puppets in the rafters. Her head is canted to the left as she sings. There is a skeleton in a black cloak listening above with its head at the same angle.

I wanted to show you all these photos that @chriscampbell.bsky.social took at the amazing Black Cherry Puppet Theater #AWP2026 showcase of musician-authors last weekend.
We loved meeting y'all at AWP! We received questions about joining our team so we wanted to extend an invitation for Associate Editors to join our team. Please send an email to ihlr@gmail.com with a brief application

back from #awp2026, where i was gagged to see SO MANY writers at our “debuting after 50” panel w/ melanie faranello, zeeva bukai & nita noveno, moderated by the 🔥 sara lippmann. huge thanks to all who showed up!🙏
That was really weird #AWP2026
My panel at #AWP2026. A wonderful discussion of the interconnections between place, history, and literature.
Home and drained after a lively #AWP2026, my first. A highlight was seeing the new issue of OSU The Journal at booth 232 and getting to thank the wonderful editorial team for publishing my story. Excited to read the whole issue!
Anna, it was so lovely and groovy bumping into you. Glad your #AWP2026 was all you'd hoped it would be! 😻

had a great time reading, signing books, meeting writers & reuniting with others, & now I’m ready to sleep for about a week. goodbye, Baltimore! #AWP2026
goodnight, Baltimore! Thank you for hosting us rowdy writers, for the fog and the Canada Geese and the CHARM ♥️ #AWP2026
I can’t believe over the years I’ve made so met so many wonderful, creative, lovely writers that I didn’t have a chance to see them all in person at #AWP2026!
If I missed seeing, know I was there in spirit!
For those I did see, thank you for all the laughs and fun!
AWP 2026 was filled with craft talks, book fair walks, and many laughs with friends 😊. Till next year! #AWP2026 #Baltimore
The best part: I drove by my old childhood home on route 30 (going east this time) and saluted my roots. One in a million moments. On behalf of the team, we thank you so much. See you next year and at Philly AWP in 2 weeks. Until then, thank you, take care, and escape the mundane.

#Awp2026 is in the books. Happy to meet these fabulous Roadside Press authors @christyprahl.bsky.social and @johnnycordova.bsky.social
One thing I noticed about #awp2026 is that no one shared their Wordle scores
They were a delightful topic of conversation at our happy hour last night

Before we depart #AWP2026 (until next year!), we wanted to share some generative writing prompts from fellow writers like @kahamilton.bsky.social from the book fair!
Whether these prompts inspire a sentence, a playful poem, or a submission to our Breakout Prize contest, be proud for writing today!
