Winter #aconites were first recorded in England in 1596 as Aconitum hiemale in 'A Catalogue of Plants cultivated in the Garden of John Gerard'.
Gerard is also aware of its toxicity and declares it ‘very dangerous and deadly being hot and drie in fourth degree’.
