The angel Gabriel, stands against a muted green background, holding his trumpet as if preparing to sound. A gathered rust coloured tunic covers his body, his golden wings partially shown, too big for the frame
Mid week adventure to Whightwick Manor. Interiors Arts & Craft / Wm Morris. This #adventangel “The Angel Gabriel” Evelyn De Morgan watercolour & pastel was tucked away in a dark corner. I felt he warranted greater exposure. #nationaltrust #watercolour #womenartist #artsandcrafts #Gabriel
Not one of my Advent Angels but one that’s very personal for me. 👼❤️

3/3 'Veni de Libano, sponsa mea, veni de Libano: veni, coronaberis'
An #AdventAngel at St Edmund, Bungay holds a scroll with words from the Song of Solomon: 'Come from Lebanon, my bride, come from Lebanon: come, you will be crowned'. Hardman & Co, c1900.
Medieval angel on wooden panel with arms outstretched. Wings of shades of dark red to cream spread out behind angel's head of curly hair and ears sticking out. His lips are pursed in a soft smile and his eyes look upwards. A torn fabric stole is looped around the neck and over upper part of the body, while more feathery features in reddish shades cover chest an abdomen. The frame explains where it came from - taken from the ceiling of Old Painted Chamber of Palace of Westminster when it was repaired in 1816.

1263-4 #AdventAngel originally decorated ceiling of Painted Chamber (King's state bedchamber) in Henry III's remodelled Westminster Palace with companion painting of prophet.

Happy #Christmas!
#StainedGlass roundel @V_and_A celebrates annunciation to the shepherds, complete w character bagpipe, pointy #AdventAngel, gobsmacked shepherd and frisky pup.
From c. 1340-45, English origin unknown, but v similar to + likely of same source as manuscript now in The Hague c. 1330.
Snowy churchyard with 2 gravestones either side of a marble angel statue holding a wreath. The wings, head and arm of the statue are topped with snow. The arrangement of snow on the hair makes it look like a mullet- tall on the top and long in the back.
We have been really enjoying all the angel memorials shared as part of #AdventAngel so here is our contribution. This angel at St John the Baptist in Bishops Castle had a very festive snowy mullet a few weeks ago!

👀 St Mary’s Church, #BurnhamDeepdale #Norfolk
A censing angel, which David King (Stories in Glass 📕) dates to between c1435 & c1445.
It is unclear where the glass came from, but it was probably inserted in the tower by Frederick Preedy in the 1875/6 restoration.
