All done!

Progress at the poolside!

So today was a shitty day, and I only got 25 rows done. But little is better than none! #AmKnitting
A large rectangular piece of knitting on a straight needle. 100 rows of garter stitch in emerald green cotton yarn.
I'm 100 rows into the front panel.
Also, I've successfully added a new ball of yarn!
#AmKnitting #FatimasFirstPullover
An incrementally larger rectangular piece of knitting in green cotton yarn, displayed on a throw pillow.
I am now 64 rows in! #AmKnitting #FatimasFirstPullover
A straight knitting needle with a piece of rectangular work in an emerald green cotton yarn.
So everything sucks and my depressive episode is in full swing. As such, I started a new project.

@fairygodmegan.bsky.social the colour was chosen with my colours in mind so thank you for educating me!
Whose got two thumbs and realised they made a HUGE mistake about 7.5 seconds after ripping out the life line? This guy. #nzCraft #amKnitting #alsoMaybeCrying.
Purple yarn from Purl Soho along side gray yarn sitting on a cotton bag with the Purl Soho logo. A pair of decorative scissors sits nearby and a Purl Soho flier is propped against the wall.
Placed my first order from @purlsoho.bsky.social after a long time lurking & loving their free patterns and I could not be more impressed! Packaged great, came with the cotton bag and a free sample (the gray yarn) - the scissors are mine. The yarn is super soft! Jazzed about my WIP! #amknitting
Me so smart.
I didn't include this in my #Knitting thread. #AmKnitting

Photo of a blue and white sweater on 2 double needles (one is wooden the other is metal). It looks like a knit amoeba right now. Sigh.
And the knit goes on….
It’s been a journey but I’m on the second arm of the baby jacket.. #amknitting #knit
Knitters! I have a question.
What do you do to weave in the ends on your socks?
I'm always stuck with what to do to them... especially so that I don't affect the stretchiness of the socks.

Two blue socks with orange and white stripes lying side by side, toes to the left, cuffs to the right. They are tall crew socks, almost mid-calf. One still has knitting needles in the ribbed cuff (lower sock). There is a tiny ball of yarn, about the size of a toonie or silver dollar lying just below the socks.
Second sock is almost done and I apparently did not divide the ball equally.
... so there's leftovers.
Next pair of socks are each getting their own full skein and I am knitting them to the knee.

Bottom quarter of a toddler's sweater in Ashford DK in garnet, on circular needles.
Tiny hobbit sweater update! The waffle stitch is a nice tv knit. #nzcraft #amknitting @sassypolitico.bsky.social
Mirror selfie of Fatima wearing her new cardigan that she made all by herself! It is a red knit with slouchy shoulders and sleeves.
Oh my Gravy. I have finished knitting and assembly. It is done!

A hand-knit almost crew-length sock in mostly medium blue with a diagonal stripe of orange bordered by white around the foot and ankle. The double-pointed needles are in the ankle-leg portion, as I am still knitting it, and there are markers along the sock to help count stitches so I can match up sock number 2.
Sock progress has stalled.
I don't like the way my calf increases are going, so I'm ripping back (un-knitting) and trying again with a different rate of increase.
I want to make some long socks.
These would make good ankle/bobby sox though. It's knit tight enough to be just right.

Yesterday's sock progress. The toe and foot (through the instep) of a sock, with double-pointed knitting needles in the unfinished end. The sock is blue with a spiralling stripe of orange with white borders. The ball/cake of wound yarn is mext to the sock. It is predominantly blue with streaks of white and orange.
The sock today. The entire foot has been knit. The heal is complete and now the double-pointed knitting needles are in the ankle portion.
The other side of the sock - foot fully completed and heel flap connected. The heel has a fun stripe look to it, with regularly-spaced bands of blue with the white-orange-white bands lining up to create a right-leaning diagonal band of orange up the heel.
Sock progress!
I love how the heel striping turned out!
This is going to be a tight sock.

A long rectangle of knitting, viewed vertically, but knit horizontally. It's a variegated multi-colour circular bit of ribbing, some stockinette, and then a lot more ribbing, to test different bind-off strategies for stretchiness. The variegated colours do some fun pooling, with splotches of pale but vivid blues, pinks, yellows, and greens, and some repeating stripe combinations, notably yellow and green, and blue and dark pink.
Absolutely ridiculous discovery...
It's clearly time to clean out my crafting corner ... because it is FULL of nonsense like this test swatch that I'm pretty sure is comparing bind-off methods for stretchiness, but has zero notes anywhere. (Except on here)
Anyway, #AmKnitting just, uh, not that!

Currently giving the just-knitted cashmere Thing aka cowl a good soak in hot water and dish detergent. Yes, really. :-) It's a mill end yarn with machine oils which have to be washed out, and this is apparently the Colourmart recommended method.

I have finally finished the Thing I've been knitting to dispose of the cashmere from hell. It currently looks more like a Thneed than anything, but it is in fact a cowl. "Finished" in that it still needs the ends weaving in and then washing out the machine oil (yarn is a mill end cone).

Eek! Gorgeous!

Hm. Half price 150g cones of linen/ramie yarn, so under £6 and thus a cheap way to try out ramie, but the colours I actually like have only one cone, not enough for a teeshirt. And it's a summer fabric, not one for scarves and gloves. Maybe one each of deep red and chocolate?

Blue yarn on three double-pointed needles (sticks) in shape of triangle, with two rows plus cast-on. Under task light so some shadows.
It’s the beginning of my first ever sock, y’all! #AmKnitting
Eep. That midi set of 4 Knitter's Pride Karbonz knitting needles I bought for £22 a couple of days ago is back to its normal price - £60. That's higher than on Amazon US and under the KnitPro brand in a couple of UK shops, but even so I'm glad I hit the buy button.

108 rows of knitted red cotton yarn, laid out on the end of a teal couch.
25 rows to go until the back panel is finished! #AmKnitting #FatimasFirstCardigan
Amazon: Oh hi, you've been looking at knitting needles. How about the Knitter's Pride Karbonz midi set with 4/5/5.5/6 tips plus cables? Only £22 when individual Knitter's Pro branded points are usually £12?

A rectangular panel of red cotton fabric, knitted.
So. 101 rows in on the back panel. I took a grief break, but I'm back at it. #AmKnitting #FatimasFirstCardigan
Not sure if I have the patience to Navajo ply 1500 m of slightly uncooperative yarn, though. I might stick to the Huj Tub idea, although given that's probably going to involve magic loop I can foresee fun with that.

A swatch of red cotton knitted in garter stitch, still on the knitting needle.
So. The knitting has been a struggle. But I'm getting it done! The back panel is officially half finished. #AmKnitting #FatimasFirstCardigan
