A North American Dipper bird chick. The young bird looks very fluffy and round. It is in profile facing right. It has a small pointy yellow bill, a small brown eye, and it's feathers are mainly a light grey, like the big boulder it sits on. The boulder is sloped from center left to lower right. So the chick is kind of squatting to deal with sitting on the mild slope. It's little feet are visible under it's tummy, facing downward. It has a very small stubby tail. The boulder has a lot of patterning of darker and lighter splotches of lichens. The background above the boulder, and behind the bird, is out of focus, dark on the left and right edges. But where the bird is and to the upper right is a boca effect with highlight areas appearing as brilliant circles, and green shapes to the upper right.

I saw one holding still for a bit at another waterfall elsewhere. It was a noisy chick waiting for it's parents to get it more food!
It was fun watching it call out to the parents when they were in sight, normally they are real quiet birds.

I was overjoyed when I finally found one of the hardest-to-find (for me) birds, the American Dipper. It was a real treat when it finally let me see its cute little bobbing self. It was a tough bird to photograph and to find, but eventually, I got it!
