a mid-victorian grand period etruscan revival brooch with a central oval rosline shell cameo depicting, in high relief, the head of the mythological Medusa after the Rondanini variant with owl wings attached to her head by two knotted snakes. the shell is set within yellow gold filigree containing alternating oval amethyst and round sky blue turqoise cabochons. The face in this example is showing extra pathos in contrast to the ronnie variation that is powerful in its flight. one a guardian in being the other a guardian in lament.

a likely christopher dresser designed, though i've net yet confirmed this suspicion, vase in the Olympia decor of a matt iridescence on a transparent light green glass. It's the disc mouth that calls out to us - there is simply no function for such an exploration of material - such things were hallmarks of dresser whose designs have come to be acknowledged as protomodern
