Nitara frowned at that, but in the end, she didn’t care. She positioned herself behind the elbhyr, and releasing the rope, pressed the arylipa against her back. “Move, demon.” “My name is Ashrah!” “Yeah? I don’t give a fuck. Move.” They had gone blessed ten steps in silence before the elbhyr grunted, “You will never kiss me.” Nitara narrowed her eyes. “Excuse me?” “I know how you filthy concubi charm your prey into damnation.” “I’m not a concubus, you ignorant demon, I’m a nensii.” “One was foolish enough to try and enthral me once,” Ashrah continued as if she had not listened. “I cut off her tongue before feeding her her heart, piece by piece.” “Yes, you’re an animal, I had already figured that one out. You've got nothing to worry about, though. Even if I were a concubus, I’d rather starve than feed on you.” A hiss, longer and sharper than the others, pierced Nitara’s sensitive ears. “Does this bloody noise never end?” “It is one of the illhaak,” Ashrah answered, unbothered. “They are always scuffling with the gnolls and the alaa’sin. Scuffling and hissing, it is all their pathetic minds comprehend. You would fit well here, concubus.”

To prove her point, Nitara leaned against the bathtub’s wall and closed her eyes with a contented sigh. Small ripples swam around her when Ashrah moved, but Nitara didn’t open her eyes, not even as fingers wrapped around her ankle and lifted her leg to cushion her heel against soft thighs. Gentle yet firm hands kneaded her foot, sore after working on their garden all night. A scoff got stuck in her throat. She really had gotten lazy if a few hours of work was enough to make her body ache. Ashrah tugged at the toes, then rubbed her fingers between them, expertly avoiding the sharp corners of Nitara’s claws, which grew sharper as soothing waves coursed through her body. “Hmmm, this is good.” “You worked hard today. You earned it.” “Ah, yes, the pride of House Coliary.” Though bitterness coated her words, their sourness didn’t infect Nitara’s mouth. It was hard to taste anything other than sweetness, to cling to old grudges and past tragedies, when Ashrah pampered her with honest, unfaltering love.

... those elements, Ashrah wouldn't have fallen in love. She may have considered Nitara an ally, as she does with Hanzo or Kurtis Stryker, for example, but there wouldn't be love there; there wouldn't be an #Ashtara. And I can't see her developing feelings for any other creature because (3/10)
