The Involvement of Lived Experience Experts
On the Atlas, LEEs have:
Simplified language to ensure inclusivity and ease of understanding for all users
Contributed to designing a user-friendly platform for quick and intuitive navigation
Been actively involved in pilot testing, influencing meaningful changes like enhanced website accessibility.
Brought unique experiences and valuable lived experience to the project, significantly shaping its direction.
Quote: As a black African, this project helped me communicate what the mental health landscape looks like where I come from - which is sometimes stereotyped and misunderstood. Lived experience advisors remain critical in understanding mental health in communities working towards decolonisation of the understanding of mental health and wellness.
Quote: Lived experience has the potential to tailor mental health research priorities, and this project gives a perfect example of research co-production.

Facts from around the world

Most datasets in South America are concentrated in Brazil. Notably several have been following participants for decades with as many as 100 million participants.

The longitudinal datasets with the oldest data are based in Denmark, with linkage data from 1870.

Europe is home to the highest number of registries containing longitudinal data routinely collected, usually in a healthcare setting.

Out of the world's low-and-middle-income countries, China has the highest number of longitudinal datasets featured on the atlas, with India and South Africa following next.
