I met many old and new friends here #EAB2021. My lovely Oxford mates, friends from #BES2019, and many more. I am proud of your achievements. I also got many new insights and collaboration opportunities, which are truly valuable.

Since a child I've been fascinated by these kind of rows of houses

At #BES2019 we presented our paper on a connectivity network between terrestrial and aquatic habitats in #Andalucia by gulls, and implications for #dispersal of #seeds, nutrients, pathogens @ebdonana @PhD_EBD @SEO_BirdLife @MedWetOrg @ibartomeus @_BTO
Changed from busy Belfast, Xmas parties and jingles, and the wonderful 1200 delegate @BritishEcolSoc conference to hiking gloriously alone in snow, sun and mud in Co Tyrone. Beautiful landscapes that I wouldn't have visited if it hadn't been for the #BES2019 #worklifebalance
Helplessly admirable. This leaves me the perfect end for my #BES2019 trip. Return to Oxford tomorrow, take a break, and start a new page again.
Some little retreat tour after the conference #BES2019. The scenery and landscape here are just stunning! Super freezing weather though, I guess I will just stay being a tropical ecologist.
Some impressions from Belfast #BES2019 Xmas is a big thing and people dress up for their parties so as an ecologist I'm pretty "under dressed".
Can’t believe #BES2019 coming to the end. It’s incredibly inclusive and welcoming. Great insights from wonderful people and talks. Overwhelmingly positive responses from delegates. Also humbled to join the Events Committee and will endeavour to contribute. Still a lot to learn.
“If the grass grow, why does it matter?” Richard Bardgett, President of @BritishEcolSoc recalls what motivated him to study plant-soil interactions. There are many ecological processes going on under the ground and we should not neglect them in the global change. #BES2019
I broke my own record after 4 days of #BES2019. Seemingly not only did I gain lots of insights from the talks, I also improved my buzzwire skills!
Super interesting talk by @Abby_R_Gilson about how climate change will affect kelp-associated communities! #BES2019
The last presentation from @LandscapeSthlm @Stockholm_Uni at #BES2019 is by @MStoesselBiolog. She talks about Tourism - tre next major stressor affecting endangered mountain tundra
Listen to some really emotional music outside the Exhibition Hall! Merry Christmas everyone! #BES2019
Much enjoyed last night's event #BES2019 at the Titanic Centre. Here is my relative, Laurence Beesley, on the Titanic; he survived and wrote a book (The story of the S.S. Titanic: its story and lessons). In view of the various rumours perhaps should point out he is on the right
Surprised by the number of gardening allotments in UK & 10s of thousands of people on waiting lists... can visit once a week & successfully produce food - but driving to allotment emits carbon! Good composting & recycling practices though @MiriamDobson #BES2019
Suddenly got some urgent things to do, had to sneak out the talks. Grabbed a cup of tea. Enjoying the riverside of Lagan. What a life. #BES2019
Functional connectivity #network between terrestrial and aquatic habitats by a generalist waterbird, and implications for biovectoring. #BES2019 Talk at 1045 Hall 2A . Paper out now
I like dung 💩 . I like dung beetles but particularly how herbivores disperse plant seeds. Now I can add dung fungi! How to create a multiproxy toolkit for herbivore disturbance in palaeoecology, advances and knowledge gaps. @PalyAlly #BES2019
@AnnaTraveset you're part of the #BES2019 even if you were not here! In Helen Roy's 12 months in ecology presentation @UKLadybirds
This is a really wonderful conference dinner @ Titanic Belfast. Lots of fun and laughters. I did at least 4 dances! #BES2019
Conference dinner and venue are superb! Thanks #BES2019 #titanicBelfast
#BES2019 Lightning talks are 1-min pitch for poster presenters to attract an audience to their posters. @PauDyssey is presenting on South African lizards at poster E2.4.
#BES2019 @dr_dingle presents a thought-provoking research on the nest size competitions among introduced yellow-created cockatoos in Hong Kong and Singapore. Urban areas can provide refuges for endangered species. We need to take a closer monitoring on these urban populations.
Keith Kirby @OxfordPlants is sharing about regeneration and grazing regimes in his plot studies on the Knepp Estate. #BES2019
#BES2019 We are seeing lots of exotic animal cafes these days in Asia. How do they fit in the chain of wildlife trade and lead to biodiversity decline? @SharneMcMillan sharing about her work.
#BES2019 @SarahEDalrymple talking about how conservation translocations need climate awareness. I’m totally with her, we need more visual, straightforward guides for conservation practitioners who may lack expertise in adaptive potentials and climate.
Really impressive talk by @gndaskalova challenging our perceptions on the global scale of links between global change and biodiversity monitoring #BES2019
