Fantastic talk from @janemreid1 on @LisaDickel’s work using a pseudo line-cross approach to disentangle genetic causes of fitness variation in Song Sparrows at #BES2020

Very happy to hear that my talk is 'Runner Up' for best student talk at #BES2020! Thank you @BritishEcolSoc!
(For those who have not watched yet - the talk will stay online for another month! 🙃

The celebration of Bob May's life at #BES2020 and several mentions of the great influence Robert MacArthur had on him caused me to go and look out this 1958 @egioxford photo from when MacArthur was in Oxford for postdoc. Always liked the stylistic contrast with the tweed!
4 days of #BES2020, 4 of my highlights:
1) Talk by Nathalie @Pettorelli in the rewilding session
2) Talk by @margot_neyret on reducing land-use intensity at the landscape level results in higher and more equitable ecosystem service provision
My @BioGeoMacro colleague @mltolmos is also presenting at #BES2020, have a look at her poster on tree diversity in the Andes 👇👇👇

Interested in the response of #biodiversity to land-use change? Interested in the response of #ecosystem functions and services to land-use change? Interested in #multidiversity and #multifunctionality? Interested in tropical mosaic #landscapes?
Check out my #BES2020 talk!
We have 3 on-demand talks and 1 poster on dispersal (covering invasions, functional traits, spatial models, wildfowl, herons, gulls, weeds, waterboatmen) from our group at #BES2020 this week @BES_AquaEco @BES_AquaEco @_MariaJ_Navarro @ebdonana @UoM_EES @MMUEcolEnv
Really cool findings by @MichaelGBertram on how Prozac not only affects bold behaviours, but can also impact reproductive behaviours in mosquitofish @BritishEcolSoc #BES2020
Now at #BES2020: holding global warming below 2 degrees halves exposure [of species to historically unexperienced temperatures] and buys six decades for adaptation.
Great talk by @alex_pigot

Fantastic keynote by @AndyPurvisNHM to kick off day 2 of #BES2020: Bending the curve of biodiversity change. Act now or pay more later @BritishEcolSoc
Enjoying the creative side of #BES2020 with #DrawYourStudyOrganism. Three-spot damselfish, Stegastes planifrons 🐠🖌 Are watercolours cheating? 😆
Hey #BES2020!
Check out my talk on multidiversity and multifunctionality along our @Diversity_Turn land-use trajectory in Madagascar!

Looking forward to your feedback here on twitter or through the conference tool!
@BioGeoMacro @uniGoettingen
I really miss #BES2020 IRL and looking at the tweets even more so. There are so many exciting talks and posters
Amazing but scary figures in @xuemeibai_aus Plenary Lecture at #BES2020. Animal biomass 4 Gt. Plastic 8 Gt!
Looking forward to joining the #BES2020 Festival of Ecology
@BritishEcolSoc this week! If you are joining and are interested in #speciesInteractions #climate and selection on #phenology you can check my talk 👇
And finally, welcome to #BES2020. I’m Henry, I serve as a member of the Events Committee and the Early Careers Group. I can’t wait to mingle with all of you and listen to your stories of academic and career pursuit. Happy Festival of Ecology! #phdlife #phdchat #academicchatter
I couldn’t believe I just chaired this morning’s Early Career Day #BES2020 (Thanks all for being such wonderful and enthusiastic participants!). But just as I said, I was completely disoriented when I began my PhD in a country I’d never been to.
Uploaded my talk for #BES2020 Festival of Ecology @BritishEcolSoc after several awkward trials of recording myself in Zoom and finally accepting I will never be 100% satisfied. Anyway, nice to talk about how #speciesInteractions mediate effects of #climate on optimal #phenology
Talk accepted for #BES2020 Festival of Ecology 🙃
I will present our @Diversity_Turn synthesis "Land-use trajectory reveals recurring conservation opportunities in the biodiversity hotspot Madagascar" which emphasizes the importance of path-dependency in land-use science.
Abstract submitted for the @BritishEcolSoc Festival of Ecology - looking forward to my first big online conference and second BES annual meeting! #BES2020
Just submitted my abstract for a Festival of Ecology @BritishEcolSoc! Hopefully I will be talking about how species interactions mediate effects of #climate on optimal flowering time #phenology #BES2020
