ExLibris have a Linked Open Data focus group, which has helped to discuss the challenges, integration strategies, and the advantages of #BIBFRAME. #eubfws2024

Converting #MARC to #BIBFRAME can expose the problems within the MARC records (particularly in legacy records), this could be a good thing as it draws attention to the 'bad metadata' that needs attention regardless of the format! #eubfws2024

There won't be a 'hard out' with MARC for most libraries. Will we end up with an environment where resources have to be described twice, once in #MARC & once in #BIBFRAME?

We need a more “modern MARC,” one with less redundancy and duplication. - And we have to look at non-MARC data sources.
Some institutions will be moving or have already moved major parts of their environment to #BIBFRAME from #MARC - how long will be in a dual format environment? #eubfws2024

Next roundtable: "The Era of Dual Format Environments: #BIBFRAME & #MARC" transforming complex bibliographic systems based on MARC into new environments of BIBFRAME RDF & RDA will mean that 2 environments will have to coexist. MARC usage should be adjusted to better enable coexistence. #eubfws2024
