Inside of the majestic Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway, the organs seem to be levitating in the mid-air and to be either partially devoured by the shadows underneath, or being carried by them. The more the organs shine, the darker are the shadows underneath.
Above, the rosacea is in the pinkish colours, softening the bony ogives of the ceiling and of the organ tubes. It’s almost alive, like a rib cage extending with every breath. It breathes in light and grace, exhales shadows and serenity. Never have I ever been so overwhelmed by beauty to the point that I wanted to weep. General feeling: transcending beauty like this is otherworldly, godly. It felt like my rib cage was about to be ripped open. Something wanted out and it was shattering me. And yet, that was until I heard the organs play!
But with the sound of the organs…I wasn’t even touching the ground anymore.
Sole grace’s whisper
And even the #shadow’s soul
Will fade, echo out.
