🦠 What if the next generation of natural food preservatives came from… fish by-products?

In our latest article, we explore #bacteriocins, natural antimicrobial peptides produced by certain #bacteria that can help inhibit harmful microbes and improve food safety, among other promising applications.

So true. And if you want to hear how we try to produce #bacteriocins and other antimicrobial/antiviral peptides using a biotech workhorse organism, come to my talk tomorrow at 11:30h in the Biotechniology for Health Session (Amber 1&2 hall) of #FEMS2025. Or to Poster 395.16P on Thursday.

Bacteriocins.bsky.social will be attending #FEMS2025.
Found out yesterday that my abstract was selected for a talk and poster 😱. All Emails were moved to Spam for some reason 🀯.
Will do my best to give a convincing presentation on recombinant production of #bacteriocins

How seaweed could be used to make sustainable antibiotics A lab in Norway is working on a new method to make antibiotics by training bacteria to eat seaweed.

Our EU project iCULTURE is on BBC!!!!
Of course, we are not trying to producing classical antibiotics but #bacteriocins and other antimicrobial peptides to start with. But once this is achieved, anything is possible.

Starting into the bluesky, #bacteriocins @UlmUniversity are on a roll. On top of the recently launched projects iCulture (#HorizonEurope) and EXAMPLIFY (BMBF) we just received news that project AILEEN (with NTNU) will be funded and project AVIT (with Virology @Ulm) is recommended for funding
