Barnard 33 / IC 434 The Horsehead Nebula - telescope processed image. It isn't a glowing cloud but a dark nebula of cold gas and dust, visible only because it silhouettes against the bright red emission of IC 434.
Barnard 33 / IC 434 The Horsehead Nebula - unprocessed image. Hidden within its dense, dark "mane" are newborn stars currently forming, detectable only by infrared telescopes that can peer through the dust.
Here is the Dwarf Mini’s observation of #Barnard33 / #IC434 #TheHorseheadNebula. Above you can see #NGC2024 #TheFlameNebula making a guest appearance. #dwarflabs #dwarfmini #space #astronomy #amateur
New processing on #Horsehead, I tried to play with the colours of the Flame Nebula (IC2024). It's not perfect yet and I lost some signal, so I'll try a new processing...

A stunning image of the Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in Orion. The dark, dust-filled nebula silhouetted against a bright red background of ionized hydrogen gas. Young stars are forming at its base. Captured by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. Light from the nebula takes 1500 years to reach Earth.

Stunning image of the Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in Orion, captured by the 0.9-meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. This iconic dark nebula, shaped like a horse's head, is part of a larger molecular cloud and features a red glow from ionized hydrogen gas behind it. The dark areas are caused by thick dust, and bright spots at its base indicate the formation of young stars. Light from this celestial wonder takes 1500 years to reach Earth.

Flame and Horsehead nebula photo. The horsehead is a dark patch in the shape of a horse's head or the bishop chess piece that is in stark contrast to the bright red nebula cloud around it. To the left of it the flame nebula is a more orange coloured circular feature with a dark band of black running through it. Several bright stars appear across the image and there are wisps of nebulosity around the edges

So as we enter what will probably be “a long weekend” up to Christmas, can i post an #astro image of mine that has a seasonal tilt? 🤣 Merry Christmas #Bluesky peeps - you made the end of 2024 bearable 👍 #astrophotography #horsehead #Barnard33
The Horsehead Nebula 🤩 #Astrophotography #Barnard33
Photography. Color image from the Euclid telescope of a colorful nebula in the galaxy. The Horsehead Nebula is also known as Barnard 33 and belongs to the constellation Orion. A dark blue starry sky can be seen in the background and a pink nebula in the foreground, from which a horse-head-shaped nebula tip protrudes. Info: In Euclid's new observation of this stellar nursery, scientists hope to find many dim and previously unseen Jupiter-mass planets in their celestial infancy, as well as young brown dwarfs and baby stars.
