Yes. And Carney spend our tax dollars on us. Health care, transit, housing. Or give us back our tax dollars in BC and we can take care of ourselves. #MainStreet vs #BayStreet. Love my transit pass

Tried going here, on a Saturday afternoon. BIG mistake! Huge! The line went around the building. B&N was my backup since I prepaid my parking. Must plan better!

🇨🇦 CANADIAN BANKS POISED FOR PROFIT SURGE DESPITE #TRADEWAR 🇨🇦
Earnings week is here. Despite consumer borrowing slowing under the weight of economic uncertainty, the #Banks are winning.
How? Fee-based income and a roaring stock market.

Look who’s in Berkeley! 👀 You can now find our beans on the shelf at CoaRo. Swing by and grab a bag to support local! Also, we’ll be at the Emeryville Tree Lighting & Market at BayStreet from Dec 5-7. Come through for some holiday vibes and fresh coffee. ☕️🎄

It seemed amusing to me that the very epicentre of Canada’s financial district was virtually empty in the midst of the morning rush.
Familiar places doing unfamiliar things. That’s a thing, apparently.

Mutual funds are marketed as safe and simple. But in reality, they often accompany hidden costs and conflicts of interest.

Bay Street Rail Crossing, Toronto – July 11, 1924 This powerful black-and-white photograph captures a bustling moment in downtown Toronto on July 11, 1924, as a large crowd waits on Bay Street for an eastbound train to pass at a level crossing near Front Street. The scene is brimming with period detail: Hundreds of pedestrians, many wearing straw boaters and summer suits, crowd the intersection, halted by a passing passenger train. The train cars—dark, steel-sided coaches—extend across the middle of the frame from left to right, partially blocking the view. A steam locomotive can be seen toward the right edge of the image, indicating the tail end of the eastbound train. Several vintage automobiles, both open- and closed-top, are halted or parked in the foreground and along the sides of the crowd. Looming in the background are the industrial and commercial buildings of early 20th-century Toronto, including factories with water towers and smoke stacks, a classic city skyline that hints at the growing metropolis. Overhead, telephone and streetcar wires crisscross the sky, and a signal tower stands at the centre near the tracks, housing the railway switch operator. A few uniformed traffic or rail staff are visible managing the crowd, while street signage and old advertisements can be faintly seen painted on the buildings in the background. This image illustrates a time before the construction of the Bay Street underpass, which would later eliminate such bottlenecks caused by train crossings at street level.

A black-and-white street scene from Toronto, dated July 5, 1905, captured at 12:00 p.m. according to handwritten notes at the top of the photo, which has to be an error because it is a daytime photo. The busy downtown setting shows the southeast corner of King Street West, viewed from the northeast corner. In the foreground, a young boy rides a bicycle directly toward the camera, while another boy in a flat cap and knickerbockers walks across the street carrying a newspaper under his arm. Behind them is a Toronto streetcar, open-sided with visible bench seating, full of seated men in suits and bowler hats. Some are reading newspapers; others stare out onto the street. The words “Toronto Railway Company” are just visible on the side of the streetcar, identifying the transit operator of the time. A fire alarm call box is attached to the wooden utility pole on the left side of the frame, a relic of the early 20th-century emergency communication system. Behind the streetcar, a row of elegant mid-rise Victorian commercial buildings lines the street, adorned with arched windows and stone detailing. A vertical sign reading “CLUB” suggests a gentlemen’s club or entertainment venue housed within one of the buildings. The image is dynamic and lively, capturing a moment of daily life in Edwardian Toronto—at the intersection of transit, commerce, and youthful energy. Digitally enhanced by Jeremy F. Hopkin, this photo originates from the City of Toronto Archives.
