#beansky, I need help!
I soaked red beans 2 nights & they’ve been cooking in the crockpot since noon today, so going on 7 hours. (Say 6, because it’s slow to get up to temp.)
The beans are still crunchy 😩 and when I try to mash them, they split in half & pop out of their skins.

Top-notch Leftovers: Cranberry Beans (Borlotti), hominy (posole), brocollini with bean broth and stock, all waiting in my fridge for something to happen, and it did! Lemon zest courtesy of my Meyers lemon tree. Life can be really delicious without even trying sometimes!

Traditional West African and Southern United States meal to bring good luck and good finances in the new year. Black eyed peas (from Rancho Gordo Bean Club) represent coins and turnip greens represent dollars. This is the most delicious meal I’ve tasted in weeks.
