I soaked red beans 2 nights & they’ve been cooking in the crockpot since noon today, so going on 7 hours. (Say 6, because it’s slow to get up to temp.)

The beans are still crunchy 😩 and when I try to mash them, they split in half & pop out of their skins.

Hell yeah, I hope there is a bean curry on your menu #beansky (and, if I could come I would probably make rajma masala)

Top-notch Leftovers: Cranberry Beans (Borlotti), hominy (posole), brocollini with bean broth and stock, all waiting in my fridge for something to happen, and it did! Lemon zest courtesy of my Meyers lemon tree. Life can be really delicious without even trying sometimes!

Week 1: Black eyed peas, wild rice, and chicken soup.
Week 2: Cauliflower with cassoulet beans and capers.
Week 3: Cassoulet bean gratin.
Week 4(ish, a day early): Chili with vaquero beans.

Black eyed peas (from Rancho Gordo Bean Club) represent coins and turnip greens represent dollars. This is the most delicious meal I’ve tasted in weeks.
