Hibiscus plants produce striking flowers. The petals are large and this flower is coloured bright #pink. I’ve heard #hibiscus flowers also make great bee hotels.

A Bee Hotel shows different nesting types for native bees. The structure is rectangular, with a slanted roof to allow water to run off. The front is screened to keep birds and other predators out. There are five compartments of different sizes, each filled with a mosaic of cut branches in different shapes and from different trees. There is a sign saying: WELCOME NATIVE BEES! Here’s the rub; I’m sad that the Solitary #Bees will not emerge…
…but the nest is beside the Rose beds and it is noticeable that there are hardly any greenfly/aphids on the #Roses thanks to the wasps.
