The park covers about 60 acres on Ookwemin Minising (meaning "place of the black cherry trees"), an island created by carving out a more naturally meandering outlet for the Don River at the city's waterfront.

Biidaasige Park on Ookwemin Minising island is phenomenal. A gem in the city. Something Toronto should be proud of & quite the feat along with renaturalizing the mouth of the Don River to manage flooding.
