The palace of the Bishops of Winchester at Bishops Waltham, Hampshire. Ruins of the flint main hall and tower built in flint. Photographed in bight sunshine, across a neatly mown lawn, surrounded by trees left and right, to one on the left is an elegant cedar
Oodles of nodules, chert nodules aka flint.

J Sanger Jnr coal wagon and carts in Bishop’s Waltham yard. B&W photo, thought to be early 1920s as BW engine shed is still standing. 4 men are standing next to the vehicles, the middle one (assumed to be J Sanger Jnr) holding on to the reins of one of the horses. Both horses have white nose flashes. The coal wagon is a 5 plank wagon, thought to be built by Hurst Nelson (a Scottish builder) from the shape of the axle boxes. Source: Bishop’s Waltham museum
A welcome change of scene today. Research for my #railway200 project at Bishop’s Waltham museum. Coal merchant J Sanger Jnr in BW yard, early 1920s.
Building a list of models for Gauge 3 is so much easier than the actual building…!
