Photograph taken in an attic space at Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Cumbria. Black and white filter used for impact. The light in the room was soft, only one small window opposite. Image shows the circular ends of large wooden bobbins stacked up in a disorderly manner. Each shows notable wear and tear. Love industrial history and sewing so this bobbin mill was such a great place to visit. Many of the Silko thread bobbins I have inherited were likely to have been made here.

A tray full of old, handmade and colourful wooden bobbins in a variety of sizes. The shafts of the bobbins are left natural but the ends have been painted in colours ranging from forget-me-not blue to orange, baby pink to olive green. Light from the window to the right casts a gentle glow. Love industrial history and sewing so this bobbin mill was such a great place to visit. Many of the Silko thread bobbins I have inherited were likely to have been made here.
