Sobek was a fearsome crocodile-headed ancient Egyptian god associated with the Nile River, fertility, and pharaonic power, who was both a terrifying force of nature and a protective deity. Usually depicted as a man with the head of a crocodile, but sometimes as a plain crocodile. Known for his strength, virility, and unpredictable nature, Sobek was believed to have created the Nile from his sweat and was worshipped for his ability to bring fertility, protect the army, and aid in the passage of the dead to the afterlife.
