A yellow and brownish bird with a nice neat chestnut cap is sitting on a branch in a bog in the Adirondack Mountains for upstate New York. This is a Palm Warbler. Palm Warblers breed in boreal forests, with an estimated 98% breeding in Canada. Palm Warblers also breed in the Adirondack Mountains. They breed in bogs and open boreal coniferous forests with scattered evergreen trees, usually near water. The Palm Warbler is one of the first warblers to arrive in the Adirondacks in the spring and one of the latest to leave our region in the fall.

For the alt #BirdOfTheDay theme #Yellow, I offer this attractive #PalmWarbler.

I took a quick run up to Quebec City and Tadoussac last week to look for some #borealbirds - I had good luck, with various bangers such as ATTW, GGOW, ICGU, and some old acquaintances like ABDU. #CanadaBirding #Birding #Birds

A Tennessee Warbler perched on a small branch, looking like it is about to take off. Although fairly plain for a warbler, it is still very pretty, with a gray head, white eyestripe, white underbelly, and yellowish gray back and wings

Stopping on random bush roads in the boreal forests of northwestern Ontario, I discovered that one of the most common birds there is the Tennessee Warbler. I'd never seen them on territory before, so to hear them singing and see them flitting about everywhere was pretty cool. #borealbirds

A Yellow-bellied Flycatcher sitting on a bare branch, looking off to the right. It is yellowish gray all over, with a bold, bright white eyering and yellow-orange lower bill. Round and cute!

A Yellow-bellied Flycatcher sitting on a bare branch, turned at a slight angle to the left. It is yellowish gray all over, with a bold, bright white eyering and yellow-orange lower bill. In this view you can see one wing, which is darker gray than the rest of him, with white wing bars. Round and cute!

On another random stop in the boreal forests of NW Ontario, I found this Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. Nice to see it on territory as at home I only see them passing through during migration #birds #birding #birdphotography #flycatcher #borealbirds
