Low tide on Bow Creek, exposing an early tidal mill, on the left. In the centre of the photo is the miller's house. Next to that can be seen the clock mill. It was built in 1817; the clock tower, bell and clock face are part of a previous timber mill dating back to 1750. To the right of the clock tower stand two kilns, which were used for drying grain.

The world's largest surviving tidal mill is at Three Mills Island, on Bow Creek, London. The 18th century House Mill on the left is Grade I listed. Everything from flour to gunpowder to gin has been produced here.

The image shows a rocky area with several large stones partially covered in green moss or algae. In the foreground, a small white bird with a red beak and red legs stands on top of one of the rocks. The bird appears to be a gull or a similar water bird, and it is illuminated by sunlight, casting a shadow on the rock below. The background includes shallow water pooled between the rocks, with some areas reflecting light. The overall setting is of a low tide habitat of the River Lea.

This Black Headed Gull (I think) is perhaps pondering if the exposed rocks in #BowCreek are real. 🪶 #BirdsUK

High rise building to the left if the River Lea in Poplar, East London. The area has undergone substantial regeneration over the last few years. In the middle if the photograph is the river at low tide with its muddy bank abd relics from its days as a thriving dock area. Rows of modern pylons stretch across the area but there's also trees and greenery to soften the hard landscape
