A Bumblebee Hoverfly (Volucella bombylans) feeds on a head of cow parsley. This is a large hoverfly, with a black and yellow body, black legs, and a white tail. It has a long yellow face, large black eyes, and extravagantly feathery antennae. Its appearance mimics the White-tailed Bumblebee, in whose nests the females lay their eggs.
