Also, to my fellow #classicists in the normal 9-5 world, it’s never too late to come back to our research. I’ve been working on versions of my #CA2025 paper since 2017 (the world keeps giving me more populist material…) but here’s proof that we’re still academics even if we’re outside of academia

Had an amazing day on Saturday at St Andrews for #CA2025. Met amazingly talented people who have given me the confidence in my research ideas. It was my very first time and I am very grateful to everyone I met who gave me confidence and made me feel so welcome. Here’s to next year in Manchester.

I had a wonderful time presenting at my first conference.
Including brilliant talks, fantastic weather, great food, and meeting lovely people.
I hope to be back next year!

Conference de-brief with Bishy after a lovely few days back up at @staclassics.bsky.social for #CA2025 💙
Arrived back in Bristol after a lovely #CA2025 in St Andrews. Some great inspiring talks, brilliant people to talk to, and a lot of fun in a beautiful location! Here’s to Manchester #CA2026 next April!
Thank you to everyone who came to my #CA2025 talk on the reception of Demosthenes’ use of identity, the past and parrhesia in modern populist discourse! It was brilliant to receive such positive feedback and engaging questions! Huge thanks to the brilliant @lottieparkyn.bsky.social for capturing it
Also, I kind of love how attendees at any Robert Graves-related panel can very quickly be sorted into people who know about Laura Riding and people who up until that point did not know about Laura Riding. #CA2025
Thank you to Sarah for capturing me in the process of delivering my #CA2025 paper! It seemed to go down well and I certainly had a great conference overall. 😊
Oh, hello, and thank you for this picture of me, which I've just found while scrolling through the #CA2025 hashtag! I really appreciate you capturing the moment. 😊
Heading back after a fab time in St Andrews for the #CA2025. Conferences are one of the best bits of my job, and they're even better when they're in a sunny seaside town 🌊
Huge thanks to the #ClassicalAssociation, to
@cascotland.bsky.social and to @staclassics.bsky.social for hosting and organising, to the panelists for their insights and the thought-provoking discussions, and to all attendees for making this such a memorable event.
See you again next year!

Some impressions of the whirlwind of activities that was this year's #ClassicalAssociation conference, the #CA2025: fantastic panels and great conversation all around, many wonderful books on display, and the occasional moment for us to take in the sights of an astonishingly sunny St Andrews!
On the train back from #CA2025 after heading two great panels on the work of Robert Graves/Laura Riding and Latin verse. Feeling extremely grateful for having had such a gentle and restorative couple of days, and to have seen and met so many good people.
With #CA2025 drawing to a close, we'd like to thank all participants for making the conference such a success!
On my way home from #CA2025. A great couple of days of inspiring talks and time spent with friends in the most beautiful surroundings.

It is the part of #CA2025 when the graduate students learn that there really is a disco or, as in this occasion, a ceilidh, and that people from every career stage really do participate. I refrain from sharing photographic evidence to protect the innocent.
An empty Edinburgh University Press table
The books are hidden away and sleeping while the ceilidh is on but I'll be BACK tomorrow morning for more books and more book chat ✨ #CA2025
