#CRPFantasyFoxes I love the first draft! The entire drafting process — discovering which direction the story is headed. I plan major beats but pants my way to them so I often am surprised by how things turn out.
I love outlining, so when I go into a first draft, I’ve got a whole roadmap. I can just…write. But my favorite parts are the little epiphanies that crop up. The small details that surprise me but add so much to a story, but I have to discover them along the way.

Oo my favourite part of writing a story is when the characters take on a life of their own and their reactions surprise me.
Like writing an argument in which a character makes a great point and I think: “wow, I wish I’d thought of that!” That’s when you know they’ve become real. #CRPFantasyFoxes

The small, human moments between characters! They get passed by often, but they add SO much development and depth to the characters and make them feel real.
My favorite in my WIP is that the MC hates nuts and the other character finds this baffling.
#CampMap I’m on the right path, one I’ve carefully charted in the 1st and 2nd draft. This time, the bridge over the river is washed away. I need to cross, but my pack is 7k words overweight. Everything feels too important to shed, so I sit at the river’s edge and wait.

My camp goals: get more beta readers for my novel as well as make connections. Been working on my novel for 10 years and will not rest until it is published as I wanna launch a series. Will self publish but only as a last resort if I don’t get any agent or publisher.
In my novel, the MC sketches as he learns about the Conservatory, and my son is actually making them, like this map of the Atrium. It well represents where I am: I have everything labeled, I know what direction everything is in, and I am oriented. But none of it is real yet.
