This #worldpoetryday, I recall listening to a lady recite a poem to herself. I didn't recognise the poem & she could no longer recall the title, despite knowing the words by heart. I used Google and discovered it was 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'. She knew every line. #carehomelife

A man came into the office, watched the goings on, then offered me a crisp out his packet. 'You want one?'. So relaxed. Just like that. Then he said, 'Well I'll see you later' and went on his way. He's learning to trust people. This little moment was huge.

As I was leaving work tonight, a lady shouted 'come and give me a hug'... I did of course. Then another lady said she wanted one too, closely followed by a 'where's mine' and a 'Oi, hers was longer than mine'. Something as simple as a cuddle gave so much more.

A lady came to see me, proud as punch to show me the bracelet her daughter in law had gotten her. Another lady, saw I was cold and stretched out her arms to give me a warming hug. A gentleman asked if I'd heard the news. These are the moments I start my day with. #carehomelife

Leaving work, I heard a lady call another by the wrong name. I gave her the right name & she said 'Ah well, I'll still call her that'!. I joked 'What will I call you then?', to which she replied - 'Wonderful'!. I love these moments of connection, wit - pure #banter. #carehomelife

A colleague heard a lady laughing today and commented 'I just love hearing her laugh'. That lady doesn't live in the #carehome, but her loved one does - and that doesn't matter, the fact that she is now able to laugh freely again matters. All people matter in #carehomelife.
Dad had 6 breakfasts this morning, apparently the dude sat next to hims son Marcus would carry me off if he was here (good luck with that Marcus, I’m a solid unit) and we need to bring in wooden jigsaw puzzles in future as the residents eat the pieces of the regular cardboard kind.

A clutch of chicks hatched in our incubator, and everyone’s loved watching them grow. Residents held the chicks, asked questions, and enjoyed the softness and warmth they brought.

A resident told me she feels lost at times, unsure of whether she's in the right place since a recent bereavement. She's a night owl. She said she values her chats with staff, especially night staff. They banter, they listen, they make her feel 'its going to be ok' #carehomelife
I went out for a local stroll with a lady today, she usually feels the cold readily but kept saying how 'lovely' it was, she also kept touching her chest and saying 'feel the warm'. We walked hand in hand in the sunshine, pointing out the colours of flowers. #carehomelife
