met7702 From Düsseldorf I made a half-day trip to Mettmann, the capital of the county surrounding the city in the south-east. I went there for the flea market which was a bit disappointing and set in a square that wasn’t worth taking pictures, but other parts of the town especially around the churches were a bit better. The locaton where the first Neanderthal remains were discovered is also part of Mettmann so half the businesses in the town use the Neanderthal for their advertising / branding in one way or another. I had to pass through this parabola-shaped tunnel after arriving by S-Bahn train, it struck me as a geometry I don't often see in architecture. Or maybe it's a catenary curve?

These birds are hanging out on the #CalTrain overhead wires. 25kV, but they're not grounded, and they don't care.
I don't think the upper wire (messenger) is isolated from the contact wire.
And that one bird is brazenly sitting right on the contact wire.
