Today we went to #Chagford on #Dartmoor #Devon James Bowden's hardware and Moorland centre is an amazing old shop of the type you rarely see these. It's a real maze with many surprising corners and huge range of stock. It's worth a look even if you don't want anything.
The DPA had the pleasure of attending the #Chagford Show on Thursday 21st August, alongside many other local charities and businesses.
We also sponsored the #cattle classes and were pleased to meet many local farmers exhibiting their #livestock.

Stumbled across the fabulous Astor's Bookshop and Art Material yesterday. If you are in Devon and looking for a picturesque town where you can have a great lunch and browse excellent shops make your way to Chagford.

Part of an overgrown collection of sundials, all on decorative stone pedestals. None of them appear to be aligned to actually tell the time.

This is apparently an armillary sundial. It's a beautiful, globe structure, also on a pedestal, jumbled in a corner surrounded by many other sundials.
These are a couple of photos taken in Chagford in Devon, UK, of a strange but lovely collection of sundials in a backyard. If anyone knows anything about it please let me know! Going back at the end of next month so maybe I'll find out more.

Rolled pork belly on a black palte. Underneath you can see white beans in a sauce, then charred cauliflower florettes with a white sauce.
The short lunch menu at The Chagford Inn on the moor. Just 4 starters, 4 mains, some sides and a few snackies.
Yhe outside of the Chagford Inn. It is a kind of orangey pink colour with dark window frames. The sky above is BRIGHT blue with whispy clouds.
Gorgeous day up on the moors for lunch!
I had the porchetta, white beans, chorizo and cauliflower. Stunning. As a salt fiend, I usually find I need to add salt at the table but this was seasoned beautifully.
Brief menu for lunch but more extensive of an evening.
