High on a hill at Chobham Common sits a simple wooden bench:
“John Stewart Cobb (1932–2015) — Waiting for Dogot.”
A touch of humour, a hint of philosophy, and a quiet reminder to pause and notice the world around us. 🕊️

Grayling Butterfly (Hipparchia Semele)
Yesterday was a team effort to see my first Grayling’s of the year on Chobham Common.
An annual pilgrimage to see this butterfly as they are extinct in my local area
The butterfly is mainly found on coastal areas and heathland 58 counted

Not sure what type of moss this is #wildflowerid #wildflowerhour but it was thriving as it colonised the badly burned out ground on Burn Hill at #ChobhamCommon lots of red smudges if you walked past quickly but absolutely astounding close up
Bumped into one of the patches of Pitches Plant (Sarracenia Purpurea) on #ChobhamCommon some looked damaged but some were clearly thriving ... Reading up it seems there's quite a debate about whether to leave this invasive plant alone or try and stop it #wildflowerhour 🤷🏼♂️
#ChobhamCommon this pm, the largest National Nature Reserve in SE England, sadly, hard to find any birds other than some overhead Redwings

This fab Adonis’ Ladybird was spotted by a child on a nature walk I was running for #HeathWeek at #ChobhamCommon earlier this week.
Number 1️⃣5️⃣ for the #LadybirdYearList - a new personal best!
I should get more people looking out for ladybirds for me! Any volunteers?? 🙂🐞
Great to spot a few Silver-studded Blues still around today 🦋
