First Christmas Beetle - Lamprima aurata - of the season. This one is reddish gold in the sunlight but when moved to the shade it looks green. Last year I mainly saw pink ones.

At school drop off and I am delighted to have become the person that the children give the bugs they find to, especially when the bug is a Christmas Beetle. This is an Emerald Tip Beetle.
