As part of the season, I begin a work of light on Imbolc. Through the year, I burn candles in bowls. The wax from each bowl is saved in an out of the way storage area when the candles burn down. Come Imbolc, the wax begins the process of becoming next year's candles.

A small joy for today: last February I boiled down the stubs of a year's candles and remade them into the next year's supply. Now I'm enjoying the fruits of that work and basking in cozy candlelight.
