Our new student placement Cerys located this lovely probable 18th century #claypipe example from an excavation carried out by the Kent Archaeological Rescue unit archive, held by the KAS

The Havisham Centre excavation carried out by KARU can be found in Archaeologia Cantiana Vol 123 on our website.

A little #lark always makes me feel better! I couldn’t stay long because it was absolutely frickin’ freezing! 🥶 But I found some of the best stuff I’ve found in ages. The longest #ClayPipe stem I’ve ever! What I think might be #UraniumGlass? Funky stoppers and a leg, complete with foot! 🦶 😅

My two weeks off started yesterday, and Lin finishes today. Meanwhile, I’m kicking back with ‘Adlestrop’ by Gilroy Mere, released on @claypipemusic.bsky.social in 2020.

Fished an abandoned keep net and its heavy anchor from the Little Ouse. More pleasant was to find an ancient clay pipe stem. And a mermaid with flowing green locks?

In Culford Stream at @FullersMill, among the flint gravels, found a 19th Century(?) clay pipe, huge bone (horse? cow?), and upstream, where this chalk stream runs through @SWTLackfordLake, an old jug.

On the bed of the River Kennett upstream of Freckenham, the bowl of a 19th Century #claypipe, & stem of another.
Also #willowpattern ceramics with my 1st River Limpets (Ancylus fluviatilis).
Plus, as usual, many horse bones & a horse shoe.
