The win today gave the #Blazers a league leading 48-18 record. It was also the first of a team record 16 straight wins, that had the Blazers heading into the final game of the 1990/91 season with a 63 -18 record. Prior to the season starting, I predicted the Blazers were going to win 63 games in a contest at the local card shop in Tualatin that I hung out at. The store offered up a complete set of the #UpperDeckSports baseball cards, including the rookie card of #KenGriffeyJr, for the lucky winner of the correct number of wins. Needless to say, I was torn heading into game 82.

The news of the day though is the announced retirement of an original Blazer architect, GM #StuInman. In 1970, Inman was one of several people who started the expansion @NBA franchise, initially serving as chief scout. He first job was to help with the front office with the #NBA Draft, where Inman found the original draft choice of #GeoffPetrie. A total of four of the draft picks played significant roles during the expansion year.
Inman also served as interim coach at the end of the 1971–72 season, after #RollandTodd was fired midway through the season. Todd was 12-44 when he was released and Inman went 6-20 to finish the season. While Inman was coaching, he wasn't able to scout as much for the 1972 draft which could explain the selection of #LaRueMartin over #BobMcAdoo, though from that draft players played for Portland Inman played a significant role in the building of the 1976–77 NBA championship team, with 8 of the 12 players selected by Inman.
Inman is probably best known for being the GM who selected oft-injured #Kentucky center Bowie with the number-two selection in the 1984 NBA Draft, one spot ahead of the @chicagobulls who selected #MichaelJordan. The reasoning was the Blazers already had shooting guards Drexler and All-NBA player #JimPaxson on the roster and were in need of a center. Inman later served in the front office of the @Bucks and the @MiamiHEAT. He later served as an assistant coach at #LakeOswego HS. Inman passed away in 2007 at the age of 80.
December 30, 1985 - With the big news of the day being made off-court, #ClydeDrexler made on-court news as he recorded the 3rd triple-double of his career in the @trailblazers.bsky.social victory over the @theextrainch.bsky.social.
