Cor Blok’s depiction of Bilbo gifting Frodo his mithril shirt and Sting. Taken from his book A Tolkien Tapestry: Pictures to Accompany The Lord of the Rings.
A colored illustration of Bilbo gifting Sting to Frodo. Frodo smiles as he holds up Sting. Bilbo has his hands behind his back and smiles as he looks at Frodo.
Good to know that Cor Blok and I had the same idea in depicting the scene where Bilbo gives Frodo his gifts! Even down to the characters’ positioning!
The only differences are that Blok’s Frodo has a cool hat and my Bilbo doesn’t suffer from male pattern baldness.

Right, I almost forgot!
My haul from Oxford! I finally got The Hobbit First Edition Facsimile, a book that I promised I’d get in Oxford since the start of the year!
I also got myself a copy of A Tolkien Tapestry since I’m quite fond of Cor Blok’s LotR art!

This painting was featured in A Tolkien Tapestry. Pictures to Accompany The Lord of the Rings on page 82. ‘Wild Men go quick on feet,’ said Ghân. ‘Way is wide for four horses in Stonewain Valley yonder,’ he waved his hand southwards; ‘but narrow at beginning and at end. Wild Man could walk from here to Dîn between sunrise and noon.’ - J.R.R. https://tolkienlibrary.com/press/1030-2012-tolkien-calendar-cor-blok-review.php: ‘Startling to a first glance, the roofless isometric projection employed in this image is in fact a classic Japanese illustrative technique, going all the way back to early 12th century Heian-era narrative handscrolls. Here, it’s used with a sure hand to create ‘space cells’ within which several sequential events happen simultaneously. The composition is good, the narrative aspect is well-handled, and the rich colourings are well-chosen to reinforce divisions in space, time and emotion. I suspect that this picture will deeply confuse many viewers, which is a pity. Live with this one, let it explain itself, and I do think that you will come to appreciate it.’
