A wooden staircase leads up the side of a hill to a small white conical lighthouse with a black metal lantern on a sunny day. Two men stand at the top of the staircase. The still, deep blue water of Penobscott Bay is in the distance in the lower right corner.
The Owls Head Lighthouse was built in 1825. Its #Fresnel lens is one of very few still in use in Maine. The light is operated by the US #CourtGuard and overseen by the #AmericanLighthouseFoundation. (My 📸, 7/17)
