The only #Crannog in Wales & England sits on Llangorse Lake in the Bannau Brycheiniog/Brecon Beacons National Park.
Excavations between 1989-92 found that it was a likely Early Medieval royal site occupied in the C8th-9th AD

Crannogs consisted of a round house constructed on a manmade island in lochs, marshes or intertidal zones. In this case, a circle of wooden posts were sunk into the sand and the internal space was filled with rocks and silt to create the base on which the house was then be built.
