The New York State Department of Transportation proposed the Cross Bronx “5 Bridges Project,” a $900 million plan to expand the footprint of the Cross Bronx Expressway. As members of the Stop the Cross Bronx Expansion Coalition, Open Plans supports our colleagues across numerous environmental and transportation organizations in calling on the NYSDOT and Governor Hochul to conduct the necessary bridge repairs without widening the highway.

In the 1950s, #RobertMoses needed to connect two of his highways so he cooked up a plan for what would become the #CrossBronxExpressway. The only thing in his way were thousands of #Bronx residents, whom he basically had evicted.
