This airport (LOAN) had an unexpectedly challenging arrival for 09 thanks to another nearby airfield (military?) and a LH traffic pattern that was very very tight! If the C-172 is like a Maruti Alto, the Diamond #DA50RG is like a Baleno!

When you see it like that - the Cessna 206 Stationair is like the old Mahindra Bolero - if you want to 4 people and 200kg of bags and land at a jungle lodge with rough airstrip 500nm away, 206 is about the only option!

Diamond #DA50RG Cons - Though the owner pilot who took me up today claims he has gotten into fields with ground roll of 600 feet, I seriously doubt its ability to do rough fields!

But if you are mostly doing a lot of long X-country with tarmac runways, this is the plane to get!

Diamond #DA50RG Pros - FAST 180 knots TAS, range of 750nm, Most Comfortable Cabin, decent 900lb load (full fuel), Jet-A fuel 8-12gph so CHEAP to fly and looks hot!

Plus loads of Safety Features not seen in this class of planes.

Just took a test flight in a Diamond #DA50RG and BOOOY!

I went in a skeptic and came out a fan! Not quite capable of going into backcountry fields but it is fast, VERY fuel efficient and super comfy!
